KCHD-TV is the ABC-affiliated station serving East Wenatchee, Wenatchee, Sunnyslope, Chelan, Malaga, Leavenworth, Entiat, Cashmere, Waterville, Rock Island and all of the Twin Counties area of North Central Washington. It broadcasts on channel 15.
Station History[]
KCHD-TV signed on the air by Chelan-Douglas Radio and Television, Inc. on New Year's day 1973 as an ABC affiliate, honoring the 80th anniversary of the city's incorporation. When it signed on, it was the third television station on the Chelan-Douglas area after KMSW and KPQ-TV. KCHD has been an ABC affiliate ever since it first signed on and thus, became the only station to retain its original affiliation. In 1988, CDRT merged with Greenville, South Carolina-based Multimedia, Inc., which was then purchased by Gannett in 1995. Nationwide Communications (owner of the KCHD radio stations) acquired KCHD-TV from Gannett in August 2004, as the FM station has a long relation with ABC Radio. On September 7, 2016, the station's operations was sold to Tribune Broadcasting (owner of CBS affiliate KPQ-TV).
